Abstract

Purpose.  Reduction  of  injuries  among  fire  and  rescue  units  during  extinguishing  fires  at  objects  of  various  purposes,  in particular  due  to  the  action  of  dangerous  factors  of  electric  current  on  the  human  body.  Search  for  new  and  improved  existing methods and means of detecting hazardous sources of electric energy in order to prevent rescuers during fire extinguishing. Method.Detection of sources of electric current at the fire extinguishing object by measuring the voltage at the extinguishing medium stream bounded by a material with low electrical conductivity.  Results.  The analysis of existing means of electric trauma prevention used by fire and rescue units and other engineering and technical workers in the field of electric power industry was conducted. The lowefficiency of existing signaling devices in the conditions of fire extinguishing, in particular in the presence of unaccounte d power sources,  especially  with  voltage  up  to 1000  volts,  is  shown.  The  basic  design  elements  of  the  voltage  signaling  device,  which   is installed on the fire hose, are determined.  Scientific novelty.  The approach to the detection of the danger of electric shock during the  supply  of  conductive  extinguishant  substances,  the  efficiency  of  which  is  confirmed  experimentally.  Practical meaningfulness.  The use of a fire hose with a voltage indicator will provide information on the presence of a dangerous source of electrical  energy.  Establishing  the  presence  of  an  unknown  source  of  electricity  on  the  fire  extinguishing  site  will  force  the firefighting officer to take certain security measures, such as searching and discharging the source, additional use of diele ctric means, and preventing the presence of personnel in places of possible damage. In this case, the use of the proposed design will not  limit the tactical capabilities of the fire and rescue unit.
