The surface energy of interphase γ → α boundaries in the diffusion transformation of austenite

Abstract

A technique for determining the specific surface energy of the austenite-ferrite interface in low-carbon steels is proposed. With its use, it has been established that the energy of the γ-α boundaries arising during the diffusion transformation of austenite is η = 0.05 ... 0.1 of the energy of the ferrite-ferrite boundaries.
