Abstract

Purpose. Assessment of the pit edge stability of walls involves identify the total of many factors. Existing theories of sustainability assessment base on the calculation of the reserve holding forces to shear forces and keeping the majority of factors is reduced to job safety factor, which includes the whole range of considering factors. The search for new solutions for the effect of factors that are different in nature. Mixing them into a single result value will more accurately assess the status of the array, and an opportunity to design work taking into account the influence of factors, redirecting them to unload the most unstable areas.

Methodology. The methodology of bringing the dimensionless parameters of individual areas of career field to a single scale. It is based on the agreement of three points from the different ranges of parameters, are considered. Namely, the left and right of the boundary points and the point corresponds to the mean value indicator.

Findings. It was found that the procedure for evaluating the total impact of factors on the state of the rock mass is based on the following assertions: commonality integrated assessment, it is possible to use it to assess the impact on the overall stability of the pit walls of each factor, and the combination of factors in a single consolidated factor; the use of the hierarchical structure of indicators and taking into account all the main factors influencing the state of stability of pit walls; the use of estimates in the dimensionless form; factors influence the ranking in importance; similarity of impact assessments for all major factors; the possibility of taking into account the influence of factors in the future development of promising mineral deposits.

Originality. Designed transition to dimensionless quantities of diverse scales.

Practical value. Using a cast of diverse factors affecting the stability of a dimensionless integral indicator allows a more detailed analysis of the rock mass, as well as to decide on the optimal parameters of its mining.
